Wall insulation in Lake Charles LA - every cavity filled full and checked

Outside walls warm to the touch and a room that won't cool? We fill your walls so that room holds the cool.

Open wall framing filled with dense gray blown-in insulation beside a window.

Wall insulation in Lake Charles means filling the wall cavities, the hollow spaces between the studs, in a house that has too little in them, so your outside walls let less heat into your rooms. We do it through small holes in closed walls, or while the framing is open during a remodel.

What does wall insulation in Lake Charles involve?

Most calls start with a room that won't cool down in summer, or an outside wall that feels warm under your hand. In an older house, that usually means the walls are short on insulation. I'll know how short once I've looked, and the plan follows what's actually inside, not a guess.

The price turns on how many walls we fill, whether they stay closed or are open for a remodel, whether we reach them from outside or inside, and the material you pick. The schedule turns on any repairs that have to come first and on the permit check. Your estimate gives you the figure for your walls once I've measured and written down what's there.

What decides how your walls get insulated

Two houses with the same hot room can need different plans. These are the things I look at before I write anything down.

What's in the walls now

House age tells me a lot. Plenty of older houses went up with nothing in the outside walls, and others have a thin layer that's slumped toward the bottom. I check a few spots before quoting, because filling a wall without knowing what's in it is how empty pockets get left behind.

Outside walls come first

The walls between your rooms and the outdoors are the ones that change your comfort and the power bill, especially the ones that take the afternoon sun. A wall between two cooled rooms rarely needs filling, so we go over which walls to include and you don't pay for ones that won't help.

What's built inside the wall

Most cavities aren't one open space from floor to ceiling. A blocking board across the middle, framing around a window, or pipes and wires running through can split the space, so a cavity may need a hole above and below to fill both parts. Finding those is part of why I measure first.

What happens after you call us about your walls

Here's how a wall job goes with us, from the first call to the walkthrough, and who does what along the way.

  1. 1

    Call or send the form

Call (337) 474-1146 or send the form on this page. Tell us which room bothers you, how your walls are finished inside and out, any water stains you've seen, and whether a remodel is coming.

  2. 2

    I look, measure and write

I come out, look over your walls, measure them and write down what I find, including any leak, wet wood or wiring that needs a look. Then you get an estimate built on those notes.

  3. 3

    We check permits, then work

If you go ahead, we check permit needs with the office that covers your address. Then our crew does the work the estimate describes, planned around anything I flagged so nothing gets covered up.

  4. 4

    Walk through the finished job

When we're done, we walk you through the finished walls, show you where we drilled and patched, and go over what we found inside so you know what you paid for.

How we handle wall insulation, closed walls or open

If your walls stay closed, we fill them through small holes and pack the insulation in tight, because loose fill settles and leaves an empty band at the top of the cavity. We check that each cavity is full before we plug and patch the hole. Gaps around windows, doors and outlets let air slip past the insulation, so your estimate may also include air sealing services.

If you're remodeling, the drywall or plaster is coming off anyway, so we insulate while the framing is open. Before anything goes in, I look the framing over for water damage, and if there is any, we plan the repair first. Open walls give you the same material choices as a new house. Rooms with block or concrete walls below ground are a different job, covered under basement insulation.

Foam or blown fill

Spray foam is usually the most expensive way to add insulation to a wall, though it seals air as it goes. For most remodels we'd seal the gaps and pack the cavities with blown fill, and save foam for when you want that seal built in.

Your inside wall finish

One building science firm's guidance for hot, humid climates says a moisture-blocking layer on the inside of the wall can trap condensation and fail early. Vinyl wallcovering, reflective foil insulation, mirrors and epoxy paint can act that way, so tell us your planned finish.

Planning wall insulation in Lake Charles

Calcasieu Parish requires a permit before any construction or remodeling project begins, so a remodel that opens your walls needs one. Whether filling closed walls counts is something we confirm with the city or parish office that covers your address before work starts. If a permit is needed, we apply for it and keep you posted. To ask yourself, call the Lake Charles Permit Center at 337-491-1294.

If the wall job and any remodel around it total at least $7,500 but less than $50,000, a state contractor licensing flyer says Louisiana requires a home improvement registration, so ask us about it at the estimate. In a mapped flood zone, federal flood insurance rules require flood damage-resistant materials below the base flood elevation, the height floodwater is expected to reach, so tell us whether the walls we'd fill sit below it.

Most wall calls we get here are about a room that stays hot all summer, often in an older house or one that's being remodeled. We're based in Lake Charles and do the same work in Sulphur, Moss Bluff and the other cities around it.

Why Lake Charles homeowners call us about their walls

I learned insulation on a municipal crew, where every job got written up and checked before anyone signed off. I started this business in Lake Charles in 2023 to work the same way. I come out and write your estimate myself, and our crew does the work with me or a lead installer on site.

Louisiana's contractor licensing board has a license category for insulation work in homes, and it's a fair question to ask anyone you hire. We're licensed and insured. Your satisfaction, guaranteed. If a hot room or a coming remodel has you thinking about your walls, call (337) 474-1146 or send the form and I'll come take a look.

Air sealing services

If you feel a draft at the baseboards or around the window trim, closing those leaks lets the new wall insulation do its job.

Basement insulation

Walls set against damp soil need their own approach, so a below-grade room is planned separately from a cavity fill.

Questions about wall insulation in Lake Charles

How much does wall insulation cost in Lake Charles?

Insulation in Lake Charles usually costs about $1 to $5 per square foot, and that range covers insulation in general, not walls alone. Where your job lands depends on the material, how many walls we fill, whether they're closed or open, and any repairs found first. Your on-site estimate gives you the figure for your house.

Can my walls be insulated without opening them up?

Yes. Insulation can be blown in tightly through small holes cut from the outside or the inside, so the walls stay closed. Going in from outside means working through the siding, and going in from inside means patching and painting, so I'll look at both and tell you which suits your house.

Should my walls be checked for moisture before they're insulated?

Yes. Walls should be checked for moisture or other damage, and any moisture problem fixed before insulation goes in. Signs can show on the outside of the wall, the sheathing, which is the boards under the siding, the framing around doors and windows, or the inside finish. If I find a leak or wet wood, I'll show you and we'll plan the repair first.

Do walls with air conditioning ducts in them get insulated?

No. Standard practice is to leave wall cavities that carry air for heating or air conditioning unfilled. Point out any walls like that when I come out, so we can mark them and keep them clear while we fill the rest.

How do I get my house ready for wall insulation?

Clear a few feet along the walls we're filling and take down pictures and shelves hanging on them. If we're working from outside, move anything stacked against the house. I'll tell you at the estimate which side we're working from, so you know which rooms and which side of the house to clear.

Book your estimate before the drywall goes up

Once new drywall is hung, filling those walls means drilling and patching, so call (337) 474-1146 or send the form while the framing is still open.
